Meeting in a Minute - June 2012

 Neighborhood Council of Westchester/Playa

Meeting in a Minute

Meeting of Tuesday, June 5, 2012

Here are some highlights from the Neighborhood Council of Westchester/Playa's Board of Directors meeting of June 5, 2012:

At this meeting the NCWP Board:

Supported the request of Decron, Inc. in its pursuit of a revised signage program that includes additional variances from the Municipal Code [Q] Conditions and Loyola Community Design Overlay District for the Playa del Oro project located at 8601-8731 South Lincoln Boulevard and 7210-7224 West Manchester Avenue (PLUC)

Presentation:  LAPD Senior Lead Officers Tony Ramos (Westchester/Playa del Rey) provided an update on crime and safety in our community.

The Pacific Division area of LAPD, which includes Westchester/Playa, is a “property crime” area.  We are fortunate that we do not experience much in the way of violent crime, but property crime is a continuing problem in our community and burglary/theft from cars is on the rise.  The LAPD has a citywide campaign to educate the residents about these crimes called “Lock It, Hide It, Keep It”.

There are things you can do to avoid becoming a victim. Whether it is your home or your car - Make sure windows are closed and doors are locked.  Do not leave things in plain sight. If you have an alarm system - use it. Don't make it easy - “HARDEN THE TARGET”.

SLO Ramos provided important LAPD contact information:

In case of an emergency or crime in progress: 911

Non emergency LAPD number: 877-ASK-LAPD
